Alex Benjamin passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

Always reliable, enthusiastic, helpful and smiling, Alex was our number one goal umpire with 181 games, and a passionate supporter of the Nashville Kangaroos and Australian football. Alex was a true Kangaroo whose spirit will forever be entwined with the club.

The Nashville Kangaroos, the USAFL Umpires Association, the United States Australian Football League and many people who watched his USAFL Weekly Report will always remember him with love and appreciation. He gathered numerous friends all around the world through his authentic eagerness and constant joy.

We think of his parents, Harold and Mary Benjamin; his brothers, Harold A. Benjamin, Jr. and Christopher G. Benjamin; and his sisters, Theresa Fricke and Tamara Huguemin. In addition, Alex is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

The Nashville Kangaroos joined Alex’s family at a memorial service on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Spring Hill Funeral Home, Gallatin Pike, Nashville. It was both a mourning of his passing and a remembrance of the humor, loyalty and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate help with final expenses. Anyone wishing to help can call Spring Hill Funeral Home at 615-866-1419. Tell them you want to contribute to the Benjamin expenses. If you prefer, you can contribute at the GoFundMe page.
