Nashville Kangaroos Football Awards Night
And so we come to the end of another Kangaroos Football season, our 15th. 2011 will go down as a rebuilding year, but whereas sometimes a down year is just that, for the Rooboys, it truly was rebuilding. With the a number of key players retiring and a key injury or two thrown in the mix, the ranks of experienced players was thin for sure. Fortunately, as always seems to be the case, we were able to find a number of new players who have had their first experience with ‘white line fever’ and the future does look bright indeed.
The team was led by first-year coach Damian “What’s” Serong “with that” who remained on the field in the forward line while taking on the head coaching duties. At his side was USA Revolution player, captain Luke “Ooga Booga” Nemeth. Together they took on the extreme challenge of a team that lost more than half its players. They were supported by veterans Dee “Weeman” Vsetecka, Tim Kleman, Ross “Rossco” Flemming, Luke “Brawny” Stockdale, Mischa Nemeth, Dave “Hungry” Walker, Jake Ridings, and Jeff “Peeps” Persson.
To make up the lost numbers from last year’s MAAFL Championship team, the Rooboys welcomed a big 2011 class including David Harris, Duane Mathes, Chris Neilson, Clint Milner, Sam Zughni, Matt Labonte, Preston Jezek, Andy Steinman, and Eliot Kerner.
We will celebrate the end of the 2011 Football season, with the unveiling of the 2010 MAAFL Championship banner, the Best and Fairest and other awards, and maybe even a few oddball awards, too.
We are excited to be at Dooleys Pub for this year’s event and hope you can join us.
