Roogirls take on Atlanta (first interstate host match in Nashville!)

Super Saturday Includes Netball Match then Roos VS Blues!
June 6, 2005
This Saturday - June 11, 2005 - The Nashville Kangaroos take on the mighty St. Louis Blues (two time defending Mid American League Champions). The Kangaroos are an amazing 6-1 lifetime against the Blues - but the Blues thrashed the Kangaroos by 15 goals in St. Louis last year to get the monkey off their back. The Blues and Roos are the only 2 clubs to have won two Mid American titles so the game will have some former championships players involved. The Kangaroos are currently 0-2 on their season - while the Blues are 1-0 after a great road win against Atlanta. The Blues will come into the game heavy favorites - but there is no doubt that the Elmingon Park home crowd is making a resurgence after the park being closed for the 2004 season. The Roo players lists has grown considerably in the last 2 weeks - and after a great 3 quarter tussle with the Milwaukee Bombers - the Kangaroos ran out of legs but were starting to hit their straps. After some strong training over the last 2 weeks the Roos should be ready for action.

Super Saturday starts with our Lady Roos hosting their first ever official netball match taking on Atlanta Netball Club at 2:30 p.m.. This should be an awesome game and the Lady Roos have 2 national team players on the club - so you will see some of the best netball talent in the country. We ask everyone to come on out and support your Lady Roos (and learn about this great game). Netball, which started as a derivative of US women's basketball, and was first played in England in 1895, is a sport that enjoys immense popularity in over 80 nations worldwide. It is an exciting, fast, skillful non-contact team sport that evolved in Great Britain and gained popularity first in the British Commonwealth countries such as Canada and the Caribbean and is now rapidly gaining popularity in the USA. In the US, Netball has affiliates and contacts in over 13 states.

Elmington Park is one of Nashville's great green spaces and wtih the $100,000.00 upgrade performed by Metro Parks last year - the field should be in tip-top shape for a great game of Australian Football and Netball. So pack up the family and your BBQ set, and head on down for a great afternoon of Aussie sports action!
