Welcome To 2005 - Nashville Kangaroos Style !!!!!
Story posted March 14, 2005

Well, season 2005 is upon us and the wheels on the Roo machine are shedding the cobwebs and starting to turn over. It looks like it'll be an exciting year. This Thursday, March 17, sees our first social evening of the year with a get-together at the Sportsman's Grille for St Pattie's Day at 5.30pm. This will be a casual get-together, so come on down and have a pint or two, share stories of your dreary winter, and how much you're looking forward to the upcoming season. Admission is free so see you there to enjoy the fun. For more information, contact our new events coordinator Cher Tueton.

Speaking of the Sportsman's, they have just renewed their support for us for 2005 with a Platinum Sponsorship of $2000. The Sportsman's Grille have been a club sponsor since 1998 - so please be sure to thank Brad and his staff for their support next time you're "Grilling it". We are also delighted to announce the Select Inn at Vanderbilt is our official hotel sponsor for 2005 (including the official hotel of the 2005 Australian Festival). Please be sure to recommend the Select Inn at Vanderbilt when friends and family come into town. We would sincerely like to thank these two great companies for their support this year and years past. We are now actively seeking additional sponsors for the upcoming year so please let us know if your company would like to get involved with our great not-for-profit organization!

Other exciting news for this year is the merging of the Nashville Netball Club with the Nashville Kangaroos. After a very successful netball introduction event at the 2004 Australian Festival, the Nashville Netball Club started to take its formation in the fall of 2004. At a key meeting with the Kangaroos and the Nashville Netball Club in January, it was recognized that the Netball Club operating under the Nashville Kangaroos banner would provide great growth opportunities for their sport as well as strengthen the membership base of the entire Club. We are very excited about the girls coming on board and will have more information on that very soon. We would like to welcome Club President - Moreen Logsdon, Vice President - Taryn Malony, Debbie Warner - Treasurer, and Nicole Bryce - Events. Our new "Roo Girls" will be announcing their 2005 schedule shortly so keep an eye on the website for announcements. For more info right now, please contact Moreen Logsdon - 615 545 8303 or Nicole Bryce - 615 424 8446....

The Nashville Kangaroos Football Club are just about to kick off their 2005 campaign with a metro league in the month of April followed by the Mid American Australian Football League 2005 season. Coach Bo Link returns to the helm as second year coach with a 6-5 win/loss record posted in his first season. With the support of Captain Dee Vsetecka and Football Manager Jeff Persson, the Kangaroos will be looking at vying for their 3rd MAAFL Championship this season. Official season training commences on Tuesday March 22, 2005. For training information click here....

The 2005 Australian Festival is already in full swing with Peter "Humphrey B." Beare at the helm. Registration is about to open up for all areas of the festival on March 15 so we are about to get busy again. Our one time per year gambling application has been approved at the state administration level, and we are awaiting a final confirmation letter. The "Lucky Roo" raffle should be a big hit later this season - with the "Down Under Trip of a Lifetime" as the grand prize. To read up on our Festival Director's own recent "Dream Trip" - click here...
